Cajun Chess presents the

2010 LA HIGH SCHOOL CHESS LEAGUE (Team & Individual) 

6th, 7th & 8th Graders may play as individuals and with their High School Teams

 Please note the following schedule:

*Saturday, Jan. 23:  Tourn. #1 (Rounds 1-4) -- Woodlake Estates Tennis & Swim Club, 82 Sequoia St., Kenner, LA.  First round at 10 a.m.  Please be there no later than 9:30 a.m. for sign-in and registration.

*This first session is being held on Saturday instead of Sunday due to the possible Saints' playoff game on Sunday afternoon.  All other sessions will be held on Sunday afternoons.

Sunday, Feb. 28:  Tourn. #2 (Rounds 5-8) -- Woodlake Estates Tennis & Swim Club, 82 Sequoia St., Kenner, LA.  First round at 1 p.m.  Please be there no later than 12:30 p.m. for sign-in for returning players and registration for new players.

Sunday, Mar. 28:  Tourn. #3 (Rounds 9-12) -- Woodlake Estates Tennis & Swim Club, 82 Sequoia St., Kenner, LA.  First round at 1 p.m.  Please be there no later than 12:30 p.m. for sign-in for returning players and registration for new players.  Awards will be given out at the end of this tournament. 

(Non-USCF Rated -- USCF membership not necessary - however, USCF rules will be in effect for all games and chess notation is encouraged)

Entry Fee:  $20 per player (for all 3 sessions)

Format for each session:  4SS --  G/30,45 (Four rounds will be played each day for a total of 12 rounds; For the first two rounds of each session each opponent will have 30 minutes to complete his game; then for the last two rounds of each session each opponent will have 45 minutes to complete his game.

TEAM INFO: 

Teams may have as many players as they wish, but only the top 4 scores will count for team score.  However, to be considered a team there must be a minimum of two players from the same school. 

TEAM TIEBREAKS

If there is a tie in team scores at the end of the league for 1st place, there will be a tiebreaker game (G/10) between one member of each team to determine the winning team.

INDIVIDUAL TIEBREAKS

If there is a tie for 1st place for individual scores, placement will be determined by the  computer tiebreaks recommended by the U.S. Chess Federation.

 Food concessions will be available for purchase on-site for the benefit of the Woodlake Estates Tennis & Swim Club . . . please support their fundraising efforts! 

Bring your own Chess Board, Set & Clock . . . Chess Vendor will be on-site.

TO REGISTER: 

NOTE:  If a player cannot make the first session, he or she may always join in for any other later session by registering on site the day of league play, at which time the Entry Fee will be prorated for that player.
